Margarette Vasko, age 97, long-time resident of Hampton, NJ passed away on Monday, April 22, 2024 at Little Brook Nursing Home in Califon, NJ.
She was born on April 8, 1927 in Coatesville, PA. Margarette grew up in Oxford where she lived the majority of her life before moving to Hampton.
She was the daughter of the late Andrew and Mary Toth Poch.
Her husband, Andrew Vasko, passed away in 1993.
In her early career, Margarette worked at a civil defense plant in Belvidere, NJ. Later, she was a factory worker at a hosiery and dress factory in Washington, NJ until retirement; she was known as the ‘Floor Lady’ as she supervised the floor.
Margarette was a long time member of the Presbyterian Church in Oxford, NJ.
She enjoyed going to Mountain Lake, NJ with her husband where they would go dancing. They also loved going to the Rancho. Margarette loved playing bingo and also playing the slot machines. She was passionate about cooking and she will always be remembered for her famous cabbage rolls and apple pie.
Margarette adored children. She loved all of her nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews and was always very involved with their lives.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by six siblings: Elizabeth “Libby” Maxham, Frank Poch, Andrew Poch, Mary Picone, Helen Brown, and Irene Rush.
Calling hours will take place on Friday, April 26, 2024 from 10am – 12pm with funeral service at 12pm at Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home, 26 Main Street, Lebanon, NJ. Interment to follow at St. Rosa Lima Cemetery in Oxford, NJ.
